Andre Santos (Carlos Yulo Lookalike from Marikina) Advances to Semi-Finals In Kalokalike on It’s Showtime

In the November 16, 2024 episode of “It’s Showtime,” thirty of the seventy daily winners have advanced to the semifinals of the “Kalokalike Face 4” lookalike contest. And one of them is Andre Santos from Marikina, who joined as a Carlos Yulo lookalike.

21-year-old Andre Santos has an uncanny resemblance to two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo. In September, Andres became the first daily winner of “Kalokalike Face 4” when the contest premiered.

Andre studied at Marist School in Marikina City. At the young age of seven, Andre developed an interest in sports. He started as a student athlete in track and field during elementary school and later became a varsity player in high school. Andre said that as early as 2020, his friends and classmates told him that he looked like Carlos Yulo.  Andre also has an impressive muscular physique, as featured by Slimmers World SM Marikina.

Previously, Andre Santos was also lucky to meet the real two-time Olympic gold medalist, Carlos Yulo.  Because of his striking likeness to the olympian, Andre has been a crowd favorite.

Congratulations to Andre Santos and we hope he makes it to the finals.

Here is his Kalokalike performance and interview on “It’s Showtime.”

Kung Tayo'y Maglalayo Likes Marikina

courtesy of abs-cbn.com
The ongoing ABS-CBN teleserye "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo" has had several on-location shoots, and several of them were shot in Marikina City.

Most of the action-packed car chase scenes were shot along Gil Fernando. Ave. in Barangay Sto. Nino near the Marikina Public Service Center where the Engineering Division is located.   The end of Gil Fernando Ave. is a wide road with huge empty lots filled with grass and trees on both sides.   There aren't any houses or buildings here which makes it ideal and safe to close the road temporarily for the telenovela's on-location shooting purposes.
location usually used to shoot chase and action scenes

Other locations include Marikina Heights near St. Scholastica Marikina and the C & B Mall where scenes of the rotonda were spotted in previous episodes.   Scenes including Astrud (Jaclyn Jose) and her lawyer talking were recently shot inside Biksa Coffee in San Roque.

The stretch of Aquamarine St. in SSS Village is also used for the telenovela's on-location shoots.   If you're  familiar with the street, you may catch glimpes of the Concepcion Dos Barangay Hall, Marikina Convention Center, SDS Medical Center, and Water Nymph resort all along that street.

Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo is aired every weeknights around 9:00pm on ABS-CBN and online streaming via TFCNow.

Unang Hirit On Location at Pamilihang Bayan

Last December 14, a part of the GMA 7 morning show, Unang Hirit was seen broadcasting live at the park in front of City Hall. A stunning Regine Tolentino was featuring a segment on the Pamilihang Bayan of Marikina.

Several stalls at the park were being shown to televiewers as Regine interviewed stall owners about the items they had for sale.
